Volunteer for NAMI NC

Do you have some time to spare to help make a difference in your area? If so, then the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of North Carolina needs you! NAMI NC is a non-profit organization that works on improving the quality of life for individuals and their families living with the debilitating effects of severe and persistent mental illness. We work to protect the dignity of people living with brain disorders through advocacy, education, and support. Our state office is looking for dedicated, energetic, and hard-working volunteers to help us with this mission. Hours are flexible! Please see the list below for areas where we can always need an extra hand. Please be aware that volunteer opportunities are not limited to the list below.

1. Media Coverage: someone who knows how to get air time on local television and radio stations to speak about NAMI and their mission, and can write press releases for newspapers, radio, and television.

2. Clerical Help: data entry, filing, event planning, taking phone calls, membership entry and follow-up, spreadsheets, small projects, etc.

3. Special Events: Help in days leading up to event – stuffing participant folders, making copies, preparing name badges, etc. Help on day of event with registration, set up, take down, general operation. General special event help – serve on committees to help plan, find sponsorships, donors, etc.
