NC CIT Conference

The 2017 CIT conference will bring together law enforcement officers, jail administrators, court personnel, emergency responders, social workers, counselors, and mental health advocates to offer relevant and timely education and training to help attendees do their jobs more effectively and make their agencies more successful.

Conference Objectives:

  • Recognize and understand methods to reduce the criminalization of people with mental illness by promoting the development of jail diversion programs such as CIT.
  • Help better prepare law enforcement and emergency personnel for encounters with someone who is experiencing a behavioral health issue or is at risk of one.
  • To  provide a platform for strengthening the coordination and planning efforts between mental health, consumer advocacy, emergency services, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Provide continuing education on timely topics and innovative approaches to CIT implementation.
