Transgender and Gender (TGNC) Nonconforming Community Project
Discrimination, bias, and prejudice have negative consequences on one’s mental health and overall well-being. Studies have shown that the onslaught of anti-LGBTQ legislation targeting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community has to lead to increased risk of depression, anxiety substance use, and suicide.
NAMI North Carolina will work in partnership with members of the TGNC community across the state about access to mental health care and resilience strategies.
Our Program Goal
To create safer spaces and support systems for TGNC individuals in North Carolina by building capacity within the state through the development of training and material resources designed to increase and improve access to mental health services.
