Sheron Sumner, B.S, M.S., Ph.D., lives in Raleigh (Wake County) and is Chair of the Program Committee of the NAMI Wake Board. She has been a NAMI member for three years, since moving from Guilford County to retire near family members, some of whom are living with mental illness. She is a life-long advocate for mental health, and she served two terms as President of the Guilford County Board of Mental Health. Sheron has extensive experience with nonprofit organizations, including founding a couple and serving as Executive Director of one of those. Her experience includes leadership positions of professional organizations at state and national levels, including as national president of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and of Omicron Nu, a national honor society.
